Toff’s tipped for Town as Imps manager reveals latest

LINCOLN City boss Michael Appleton has revealed more on Harry Toffolo’s situation amid growing interest from Town.

Toffolo appeared to be saying goodbye to the Lincoln fans after their midweek 5-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers and it soon emerged he was on Town boss Danny Cowley’s wanted list.

The Terriers are in need of another left-back and the 24-year-old Toffolo is well-known to Cowley, having been signed by him for the Imps in July 2018.

Lincoln insist they are under no pressure to take a cut-price offer on Toffolo, so he won’t be leaving for the John Smith’s Stadium or anywhere else unless their valuation is met – his contract expires in the summer but there is a clause for extension which can be triggered by the player.

Appleton believes the player’s future will become clear before weekend.

“I’m sure over the next 24 hours we’ll know a little bit more,” said Appleton in his press conference yesterday.

“I had a bit of a breather yesterday and spent a bit of time with the wife. That’s not happened for a few weeks!

“If it does happen, and things do progress, we’ re more than ready in terms of preparatio­n. We’ve got people in place to make sure we can cover for him.”

That could be interprete­d that Lincoln are planning without Toffolo for their home game with Blackpool – and Town seem to be the frontrunne­rs for his signature.
