Roadworks are turning towns into no-go areas

-

Sorry for the family’s loss and thoughts are with them. Surely it’s not the fault of the NHS but the people misusing and mistreating it? I took my mother in on Tuesday night with a mini stroke or TIA and they were wonderful but whilst I was there I went for a coffee (at about 00:30) and there was a family there mum, dad and three kids because one of the kids had a stye on her eye! What a waste of A&E time.

WHO is responsible for playing the malign games on the A62?

To get out of Marsden you have to endure a four-way contraflow, and until recently this was the only way to Huddersfield as the Chain Road was closed.

But next you face the fun and games at Slaithwaite where the road inwards is blocked, and a 180 degree turn is needed for anyone to get into Slaithwaite.

Escaping this you have a further contraflow at Linfit Fold and another where the new block of homes is being built just short of Linthwaite.

And passing the Linthwaite lights you are informed there is no way up into Golcar.

To cap it all, there is a warning that Milnsbridge will not be accessible from Morley Lane for several weeks.

If this is not bad enough there are two stretches of street lighting that have been out of order since well before Christmas.

One is on the A62 on the Slaithwaite side of the turning to West Slaithwaite (about 12 lights) and an even worse one on a dangerous zigzag bend on the Crimble Clough Road out of Slaithwaite up to Scapegoat

Hill (again at least 10 lamps).

Is this a covert attempt to drive the upper part of the Colne Valley into Lancashire? Perish the thought.

Visitors will have to bypass Huddersfield

I’VE been reading about how Huddersfield is going to be rejuvenated with £250m spent on town.

Just one thing. How are people going to get into town with all these roadworks going on all round? Visitors are going to drive past Huddersfield if they can’t get into the town centre.

AS January turns into February, Big Ben may toll the knell for many things progressive.

In the morning of February 1 my curtains and blinds will remain closed in mourning for all that is lost.
