KARLAN Grant only joined Town last January in a £2m deal from Charlton Athletic, but has already become the Terriers’ most-prized asset.

The forward is Town’s top scorer in the Championsh­ip so far this season after racing into double figures regardless of the side’s awful start to the season, inevitably sparking interest in the 22-year-old hotshot.

Here’s how the speculatio­n around Grant’s future has mounted and where we stand on Grant’s future at Town.

It took Town eight games to record their first win of the season, but there were never any doubts about Grant’s ability to find the net even during that difficult spell as he scored in all of Town’s first three games of the season.

By the time he bagged the winner against Brentford on November 2, Grant had racked up nine goals in just 15 Championsh­ip appearance­s, making it only a matter of time before interest starting whipping up from elsewhere. Sure enough,

Town fans would rate Grant’s value at £26m in a poll run on this website - and head of football operations David Webb would concur that it would take something pretty substantia­l to prise the forward away.

He said: “I think in football you can never 100 per cent guarantee, but if something ludicrous or out of this world comes in, any club in our position would look at it, obviously we’d discuss it and see where we are, but in an ideal world, no [he wouldn’t be leaving].

“I would say it would have to be something pretty special.”

All then stayed relatively quiet on Grant throughout December, but the opening of the January transfer window meant it was only a matter of time before speculatio­n flared up again.
