Claret and Gold will be Craven another victory

-

WELL here we are again for another round of the Betfred Super League.

Tonight’s match is another chance for the Giants to put down a marker in the 2020 season as we travel to the other end of the country to face Hull KR at Craven Park.

Travelling to East Hull is always tough, and that home crowd is always fierce.

I remember some massive encounters in my playing days, with the home fans, the wind and the journey making it an incredibly uncomfortable place to play.

This squad put together by Simon Woolford, however, doesn’t seem fazed by any challenge.

The players always wants the opportunity to get into an arm-wrestle and prove themselves.

They might not all be from Huddersfield, but they’ve got the grit and determination that’s typical of the people of this town.

They’ve got their fair share of homegrown talent, too, and they are a team that the town can really get behind.

Hull KR will be smarting after their 52-10 loss at Leeds Rhinos last week, and have a lot to prove themselves, mind.

They’ll be wanting to prove to their home fans that the heavy defeat isn’t going to become a habit.

They’re coached by Tony Smith, who we at Huddersfield know a lot about, and they’re going to play in the classic Tony Smith style – lots of off-thecuff plays, lots of running and combinations in the backfield. We’re going to need to be really tight and continue our relentless defence has to continue.

We’re averaging 11 points conceded per game at the moment and we’re going to need to keep those standards high for the rest of the season if we want to maintain a play-off push or more - and managing that away at Hull KR tonight will be a big statement to send to the rest of the league.
