Cowley’s predicting ‘dominant’ Swansea show

HUDDERSFIELD Town manager Danny Cowley is expecting Swansea City to aim to ‘dominate’ his side when they visit the Liberty Stadium tomorrow.

Only the Championship’s current top four sides have completed a higher percentage of their passes than the Welsh side’s 79.1 per cent, and Cowley believes that could well see them overcome their poor record of just one win in their last seven games.

“They are a good team, a possession-based team who want to dominate the ball,” he said.

“Swansea want to get control and rhythm in their play and ask a lot of questions of you against the ball. At home, particularly, they really try to dominate the ball.

“They have some really good players in attacking areas and signed well in January, although they would probably have wanted to have a couple more positive results recently.

“It will be a really tough game.” Cowley was at the KCOM Stadium last Friday night to see Steve Cooper’s side play out a topsy-turvy 4-4 draw with Hull City - a stark contrast to their snoozefest of a 0-0 home draw against QPR just three nights prior in which Swansea didn’t manage a single shot on target.

The Terriers boss said: “We had a good watch of them Friday, in what was a crazy Championship game of football. They will have been very pleased with some of their offensive play, while probably hoping to do a little bit better against the ball.

“But they will have been working at that during the week and we anticipate a really tough game against a team that is striving to get promoted this season.”
