had not been tested, would have to stay at home until March 9, in an unprecendented move by the school to help stem the risk of contamination.

He said: “Some children and staff have now been tested for the Coronavirus and the extremely reassuring news is that there are no reports whatsoever of anybody testing positive for this illness.

“While nobody has reported any specific symptoms associated with the virus, some have inevitably been feeling ‘run down’ as a result of the cold weather skiing in Italy - and no doubt the stress of recent events.

“Those staff and students are now gradually being given the ‘allclear’ where they have chosen to request the test at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

“We have also had a specialist doctor from Public Health

England advising us throughout this period of self-isolation. He has confirmed that staff and students who have tested negative for the virus can now return to school.

“Administrative checks will be undertaken in order to validate the negative test result and facilitate the return to school. Those who have not been tested will continue to stay at home until March 9, 2020.”

He said specific educational programmes, including assemblies and poster information, were also being rolled out across school.

Further measures were also being adopted, such as increasing the amount of hand sanitiser available in school from Monday, and welcoming parents to send children in with it.

Mr Christian added: “Our kids didn’t go into the affected area for their holiday.

“They were at Medesimo, more than 100km away from the affected area, but they flew from Milan Airport so when they flew back we said they should selfquarantine.”
