up on 43 minutes when Simpson provided a perfect cross from the right, but Grant mistimed his leap and the header was scuffed wide.

Taylor had shot on the turn for Charlton pushed wide by Lossl just before the break, but Town negotiated the added three minutes without a concern.

Charlton sent on the tricky Jonny Williams for Oztumer at half-time but Town started the second period well, pressing forward through Toffolo, Grant and Chalobah.

The visitors responded with a header from Andre Green and

a another attack which required a goal-saving block from Toffolo, but when Town broke smartly in their next attack, Phillips produced a fine block from Willock. Town had appeals for a penalty waved away when Fraizer Campbell went down trying to get on the end of a Toffolo cross, Charlton immediately sending on Macauley Bonne for Aiden McGeady in an attempt to gain a foothold.

Toffolo made another excellent block to deny Green on the break and Cowley made a switch, sending on Juninho Bacuna for Willock.

It was nip and tuck until Town took the lead on 25 minutes – Grant pouncing for his 15th

of the season

Town were fortunate to escape when Oshilaja broke into the right side of the box on 69 minutes, his pull-back being fired over by Josh Cullen.

Cowley made another change, taking off Smith Rowe and giving Alex Pritchard his first action since November, then he sent on Mounie for Campbell – with dramatic effect.

The big Benin frontman had been on the field just a minute when putting Town two up with 74 on the clock, bundling home from close range from a Toffolo cross.

It was no more than Town deserved to be fair and the icing on the cake came in the final minutes.

Firstly, Bacuna superbly teed up Grant to seal the points and then the Dutchman fired in his own sizzling strike from long range in stoppage time.

HUDDERSFIELD Town are facing an anxious wait to find out the extent of Jonathan Hogg’s knee injury.

The experienced midfielder missed the 4-0 victory over Charlton Athletic, after being forced off in the previous win over Bristol City.

It seems unlikely the 31-year-old will return to face Leeds United at Elland Road and he may be sidelined for a while.

“Hoggy will see a specialist early this week,” said manager Danny Cowley.

“He’s moving and it doesn’t feel as bad as the previous medial problem he had – this is a lateral – so we are keeping everything crossed. He doesn’t feel like it’s as bad as the medial one which kept him out for eight weeks, so we are hoping it’s going to be sooner rather than later, but he is in a brace at the moment.”

Emile Smith Rowe went off clutching his back in the 70th minute of Saturday’s win, with Alex Pritchard coming on in his place to make his first appearance since November.

But Cowley says it is nothing to worry about. “He was just feeling his back. We didn’t want to leave him out of the starting XI last Saturday [against Swansea] but you’ve seen that we’ve had two home games and we wanted to play him in the two home games for obvious reasons,” he said.

“We had to be a little bit disciplined with him last Saturday but he was able to play Tuesday night and play ever so well and I thought some of his play against Charlton was excellent.

“But no, he just was tiring and feeling his back a little but it’s pretty low level. We’ll freshen him up now and get him ready for the Leeds game.”
