Town make changes to guard against virus

-

TOWN have taken further steps to guard against coronavirus.

As a result of closing their PPG Canalside training complex to non-essential visitors in an attempt to guard the playing squad from Covid-19, manager Danny Cowley has also made a switch.

Instead of holding his normal pre-match press conference for the Wigan Athletic Championship match at Canalside, where a new press interview room has been in operation for the past few weeks, Cowley will answer questions from the press at the John Smith’s Stadium.

In addition, all press intending to be present have been asked to fill in a form confirming a number travel and health details before they will be allowed to gain access.

These include confirming journalists have not travelled to problem coronavirus areas in the last 14 days – Italy (outside specific areas in northern Italy) before 9 March, mainland China outside of Hubei province, South Korea outside of Daegu, Cheongdo and Gyeongsan, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Japan, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Further areas of concern are listed as Iran, specific Lockdown Areas in northern Italy (as designated by the Government of Italy).

Also, anywhere in Italy on/after March 9, special care zones in South Korea (as designated by the Government of the Republic of South Korea) and Hubei Province, China.

Potential visitors are then asked if they have any of the following symptoms, or if they’ve had close contact with a confirmed Covid-19 sufferer – those suffering from a cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, temperature/fever, or flu-like symptoms.
