Terriers’ wish for goalscorer is GRANT ED!

-

Town were unable to keep their Premier League fairy-tale going, but in Grant, they had found the goalscorer that they had longed for during their two top-flight seasons.

Town would win just one of their final 14 league games, but Grant would be a glimmer of hope, scoring four times in 13 Premier League appearance.

Despite the Terriers enduring a disastrous start to the current season that lead to Jan Siewert’s exit, Grant scored three goals in his first three Championship appearances, despite it being a winless run for Town. That was just a sign of what was to come. Grant has largely operated down the left side rather than as a central striker, but that has not stopped him from coming up with the goods time and time again.

Grant has already netted 16 goals and provided a further four assists in his 34 league outings this season, making him the Championship’s joint-fourth top scorer. Town have netted 45 times in the league this season, Grant’s 16 goals and four assists make up almost half of that season total.

Danny Cowley’s squad is stacked with strikers but as things stand, Cowley is finding the right balance to get the best out of each of them.

Grant’s 20 goal contributions (goals and assists) have directly earned 17 of the Terriers’ 41 points this season. Without those they would be on 25 points, 16 short of safety and rock bottom of the Championship standings rather than whey currently sit, safe by a point and 18th in the table. The forward’s second campaign in south Yorkshire has dragged Grant into another relegation battle, with one of their rivals being the former League One side that Grant switched for a taste of the Premier League 15 months ago. Since his career-changing loan at Crawley in 2018, the 22-yearold has developed into one of England’s most clinical young forwards whose career has got more than a decade still to go. In small glimpses, Grant has already proved his worth in all of England’s four professional divisions in just over two years. Whether Town stay up this season or not, Grant has done more than play his part in the Terriers’ survival bid.
