A GANG member who was caught with class A drugs has been ordered to pay back more than £1,000 – or face more time in jail.

Dale Donaldson was jailed for twoand-a-half years in January this year after hundreds of pounds worth drugs were found hidden inside his body during an arrest.

The dad-of-two was subject to a gang injunction when police stopped and searched a car in which he was a front seat passenger in Brighouse on October 21 last year.

A search at the police station revealed that he had concealed a package containing 13 wraps of heroin and three wraps of crack cocaine inside himself.

The court was told the total street value of the drugs was £410.

Four phones were seized from the vehicle and text messages were later found linking him to the delivery of drugs.

Donaldson also had £50 in cash in a manbag.

Donaldson, of Hopkinson Road, Brackenhall, was one of the first men to be handed a gang injunction in the Kirklees district.

He has six previous convictions for 10 offences, including for dangerous driving and possession of class A and B drugs, but had not previously been convicted over drug dealing.

The injunction, which was made final at a county court, was imposed in 2018 due to a lack of evidence for the Crown Prosecution Service to proceed with another criminal case against him.

In November last year, he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin and possession with intent to supply crack cocaine.

Leeds Crown Court was told on Monday that Donaldson benefited from his crimes to the tune of £1,654.58.

The 27-year-old was not produced from custody for the brief Proceeds of Crime Act hearing.

The court was told that Donaldson has £1,330.30 available to pay back.

Judge Robin Mairs ordered Donaldson to pay £1,330.30 within six months or face a further 14 days of imprisonment.
