Kar’s raring to go in push for goal landmark

-

Corberan prepares to take charge of the club.

Town’s leading scorer needs two more strikes to reach that landmark and caretaker boss Danny Schofield dropped a strong hint he’ll get the opportunity at The New Den.

Schofield – who is picking the team for the final match of the Championship season following the sacking of Danny Cowley – says his game plan against his former club is based around finding more cutting edge.

Grant will be at the forefront of that approach, even though it could be his last game for the club should potential suitors come knocking.

We understand Town have had no offers for the former Charlton Athletic player they signed for just £2million, despite reports to the contrary.

Asked about getting more out of Town in the final third, Schofield explained: “I think we have some really creative players in the attacking areas. It’s a case for me, and the rest of the staff discussing this, that it’s about getting into those positions where we can be effective.

“We know how Millwall are going to play. They have a clear identity, but we have some ideas about positional play and how we can get our players in really good attacking spaces.”

Asked if Grant should be thinking about getting to 20 goals, Schofield added: “I think he will be, 100 per cent. He is a goalscorer and they all want to score as many as possible, and 20 is an unbelievable figure.

“I think it’s certainly within his grasp and within his thoughts.

“He is very high quality, like a number of players. He has some real attacking strengths and has proved that through the season. “Karlan is certainly a quality player and vital to this team.”
