Town could bring back winger Chris

HUDDERSFIELD Town could still plot a move to bring Benfica wingman Chris Willock back to the John Smith’s Stadium.

Even with a new head coach in Carlos Corberan now at the helm, Town are known to like the 22-year-old Arsenal product from his time in the Championship last season.

Willock, pictured, was signed with just minutes to spare on transfer deadline day in January and - having not featured at all for West Brom in the first half of the season played 14 Championship matches for Town, scoring twice.

One of those goals, memorably, came in the final home game of the season against West Brom and set Town on the road to a 2-1 win which effectively kept them in the division.

Willock has returned to Benfica, where he has been in the B Team set-up and is contracted until the summer of 2022.

That deal is a lucrative one, but we understand he’s not out of the John Smith’s ballpark from a financial point of view.

It could be that a move firms up for Willock if Town move on any of their current widemen.

Right now, Corberan has leading scorer Karlan Grant, highly-rated prospect Aaron Rowe and even Alex Pritchard who can play wide, along with returning loaned-out players Adama Diakhaby, Isaac

Mbenza and Josh Koroma.

HUDDERSFIELD Town head coach Carlos Corberan has confirmed that the club are in transfer negotiations over the exit of two players, saying the duo are ‘very close to leaving the club.’

Chief executive Mark Devlin had already gone on record to say that the club have fielded transfer
