Farke wants more from his Canaries

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND-UP

NORWICH boss Daniel Farke has called for his players to show more attacking thrust as the Championship leaders look to get back to winning ways against QPR.

The table-topping Canaries suffered just their fourth defeat of the season on Boxing Day, when Watford – another side relegated from the Premier League last term – ran out 1-0 victors at Vicarage Road.

Farke was frustrated by that defeat given Norwich bossed possession and the shot count, leading the German to call for a killer instinct in the final third when QPR arrive at Carrow Road on Tuesday.

“Sometimes it’s difficult after a win because you can never enjoy or celebrate it,” he said.

“Five minutes after the game, you’re already switched on for the next game.

“But it helps after a loss because you can’t be too down. We have to go again and we accept the challenge.”

Chris Hughton’s Nottingham Forest head to Stoke looking to build on recent improvements.

In the early kick-off, interim boss Wayne Rooney attempts to inspire struggling Derby to victory at Birmingham fresh from the last-gasp Boxing Day loss at Preston.

“If we perform like we did against Preston then I have no worries whatsoever,” England’s all-time top scorer said.

“We are where we are in the table because of a bad start to the season, but I am very confident that we will be able to get out of that. We will see how all the players are and how they recover.”

CARLOS Corberan has praised Juninho Bacuna and said he is focused on the job he needs to do for Huddersfield Town.

The forward looked sharp and offered plenty for the Terriers in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Barnsley.

He looks set to be back in action
