‘Our views are being bulldozed’
PEOPLE living in Huddersfield close to large sites earmarked for hundreds of homes have been encouraged to have their say on the schemes.
Letters have gone out to hundreds of households in Lepton and Fenay Bridge asking them to share their thoughts on the developments planned for the area.
Land around Penistone Road has been allocated for building as part of Kirklees Council’s Local Plan, which was approved two years ago.
An order from the Government, the Local Plan includes 31,000 homes, many of which will have to be built within the green belt, as there is insufficient non-green belt land in the borough.
It equates to building 1,730 homes per annum in the borough.
In Lepton and Fenay Bridge three sites have come under scrutiny. A 5.6-acre parcel of land to the north west of Woodsome Drive is earmarked for 68 homes. It is believe developers wish to avoid known as Site HS1. formulating a joint masterplan
