Tourism chief of vision is needed

-

RE the hunt for a tourism chief

March 4). The number one priority to encourage tourism is of course the look of the town.

Your photo of St George’s Square shows the gateway to the town totally devoid of colour and greenery – apart from weeds growing in the containers which contain a few poorly maintained trees, which is a barometer of the town. In the past the square used to have colour. And who could forget the French garden created by the Parks Bradley Nurseries gardeners in 2014?

Any new tourism chief getting off his train and walking out onto the square will instantly see a dull looking area devoid of colour – even the water wall has not been working for over a year, another expencive white elephant.

The tasteful use of horticulture is the way to go. But real vision is needed to bring this about. Joseph Paxton (1804-1865) was head gardener at Chatsworth house Derbyshire, but took on a large number of other projects, working on the layout of public areas, including Peoples Park at Halifax helping with suggested improvements.

Take some time off

OUR Feedback respite did not last long from Messrs Wooley and Jenkinson and their letters of Conservatism hatred.

Being in opposition is an easy place to be in politics.

You have no cause or ability to influence change. So, what are your options?

Your options amount to trying to influence people that the Government is doing a bad job, too little too late are the buzz words. Politics, it’s all about power. Those that have it, and those that haven’t. In opposition, you don’t have to make the big decisions all your efforts are dedicated in trying to make the other party looked bad and ridicule all their work.

Why people such as Wooley and Jenkinson think they can influence the way people vote shows the disdain they have of people’s intelligence.

Recently a gentleman wrote into the Feedback column expressing that these people would never influence the way he voted.

Any chance we could have some more time off from you guys?

It was great reading the Feedback column albeit it is half the size as was.

Why should she open?

ACCORDING to the Bradford hairdresser who broke lockdown laws last year, some of the public have been brainwashed into thinking it’s OK for so-called TV presenters to have their hair done but not clients of her hair salon.

Now whether that’s true or not remains to be seen.

What I will say is that I am not brainwashed into thinking she should be able to open her salon in defiance of the Covid regulations.

I would say that the people who contributed to her gofundme page to pay her fine are probably the ones who may have been brainwashed!
