August show cancelled by organisers
AGRICULTURAL EVENT WON’T GO AHEAD DUE TO ‘UNCERTAINTIES’
On behalf of our loyal readers, we’ve partnered with one of the UK’s most trusted energy switching brands to create the InYourArea Energy Campaign - built with our readers in mind and designed to find you the best new deals, we could save you up to a huge £216* on your energy bill.
*Between 1 July 2020 and 31 December 2020, people who switched energy supplier for both gas & electricity with Uswitch saved an average of £216.
MIRFIELD Agricultural Show, which normally attracts thousands of people every August, has cancelled this year’s event because of the pandemic.
Otley Show and Emley Show have already cancelled their events and the only show to be confirmed this year is Honley Show.
Jonathan Evans, chairman of Mirfield Agricultural Show Committee & Family said: “There are far too many uncertainties out there at the moment.
“And for the wellbeing of all our committee, our volunteers, our sponsors, those who we invite to take part in the Show and for the wider community of Mirfield then this was definitely the right decision to make.
“It would be irresponsible of us to try to continue with the Show this year putting people at risk.
“We will now take Mirfield Show virtual again for 2021 and there are already lots of plans in place for a wonderful array of fun and exciting Competitions.
“Our new activity packs are proving to be extremely popular and these will continue throughout the months. “A few of the ideas so far: Our very popular Scarecrow Competition will return to the streets of Mirfield. “Competitions themed on kindness, togetherness and friendship.
“A schedule of Competitions to run a full 12 months meaning other exciting competition themes could be included like Halloween and Christmas.
“For now, I would like to thank you all for your continued support for the Show and look forward to welcoming everybody back onto the Showground in 2022. If you are a local organisation, charity, or business and have already booked to come to the Show, please bear with us and we will be in touch as soon as we can.”
