Feedback Time to put a stop to this deadly weedkiller
AFTER reading the article on Barry Sheerman on Saturday I feel gratitude to Jon Heylings, the whistle-blower from Syngenta, for exposing the matter of insufficient emetic additives to Gramoxone (paraquat).
It seems the amount used is not enough to induce vomiting in time to save the life of anyone who may inadvertently drink the highly toxic chemical – an occurrence not as unusual as you might think, for example if it is shared out in small quantities by third world families who can’t read English.
Letters will not be included unless you include your name, full postal address and daytime telephone number (we prefer to use names of letter writers but you can ask for your name not
It’s reported thousands of deaths have been caused in this way. Syngenta gives a lot to Huddersfield – employment, trade, cultural sponsorships etc.
But it continues to produce paraquat, already banned from use by 50 countries including the UK, for export.
I am entirely on board with Barry Sheerman – it’s time to stop producing paraquat altogether – on safety, environmental and ethical grounds, both locally and globally.
Another whinge about failures of Brexit
LET’S have another whinge.
As yet, the Brexiteers, as we Remainers knew and predicted, have not answered any factual information about the failure of their glorious crusade for a bigger Union Jack.
The latest is that Welsh ports linked to Ireland are suffering a major 50% loss of trade.
In contrast, direct routes between Ireland and the EU have increased by a staggering 270%, post-Brexit. The Welsh do not think that is funny. But obviously I have no sense of humour, according to Geoff Headley
But what is Boris’s most successful export post-Brexit? Exporting the British variant of
Covid to the world. Chile with a higher percentage vaccine cover than the UK has, alarmingly, just gone into another wave with record numbers – partly blamed on the British variant.
How can blaming Boris for deaths be justified?
SO, a retired English teacher, Mr Woolley, knows more than scientists and the government on fighting the pandemic. His claim that 126,000 people would not have died if Boris Johnson had not been in charge is fantasy!
How can he justify this statement. Mr Woolley is full of accusations and believes he could do better - I wonder how!!
How many other readers are fed up with his negativity and exaggerated statements?
