Harrogate first up for Terriers in friendly
TOWN have announced their first pre-season friendly of the summer.
Harrogate Town will visit Canalside on July 10 to take on Carlos Corberan’s side.
The North Yorkshire side finished 17th in League Two this season after gaining promotion to the EFL for the first time in their history.
The two sides have never faced each other before, as far as well can tell – certainly never in a competitive game.
A kick-off time for the friendly has not yet been confirmed, and nor have details of whether the game will be streamed on YouTube as previous summer friendlies have.
Details of future first-team pre-season fixtures will be announced in due course as the Terriers prepare for their second season under Corberan.
Town ultimately had a disappointing 2020/21 season with an overall positive start to the campaign giving way to a dreadful run of form after the turn of the new year, so it will be interesting to see what approach they take in those summer exhibition matches.
The club have also announced seven friendlies for their academy side as follows:
Saturday July 3: Tadcaster Albion (A) 1.30pm
Tuesday July 6: Glossop North End (A) 7.30pm
Friday July 9: Hyde United (A) - 7.30pm Tuesday July 13: Golcar United (A) - 7pm Tuesday July 20: Atherton Collieries (A) 7.30pm
Friday July 23: Worksop Town (A) - 7.30pm Saturday August 14 - Altrincham (H Canalside) - TBC
This summer is set to follow a rather more normal course than last year’s much-shortened preparations in which Town played just two friendlies, against Bradford City and
Manchester United U23s.
Another friendly, away to Southport, had been planned last summer but was postponed due to Covid.
