Trial date set for ex-footballer who faces fraud charges
A TRIAL date has been set at Leeds Crown Court for an events organiser who attracted some of the biggest Hollywood stars to West Yorkshire.
Former Halifax Town footballer Stephen Oleksewycz, and his father-inlaw, Norman Graham, are accused of various fraud charges.
Mr Oleksewycz, of Town Ing Way, Stainland, near Halifax, and Mr Graham,
of Aldercroft Avenue, Woodhouse Park, Manchester, first appeared at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court last month – when Mr Oleksewycz was accused of eight charges, including perjury.
Mr Graham is charged with having transferred or removed criminal property, namely £21,000, which he knew or suspected, represented Stephen Oleksewycz’s benefit from criminal conduct.
Both men will be asked to plead on August 6 when they will be formally arraigned, with a two-week trial set to take place from June 27, 2022.
They were both granted conditional bail.
After injury curtailed Mr Oleksewycz’s brief football career at the age of 21, he became a DJ and an events promoter in Greece before setting up a business hosting black-tie dinner charity events at various locations including Calderdale and Leeds, where Al Pacino paid a visit to Elland Road in 2015.
Among the Hollywood stars he attracted to his events were Arnold Schwarzenegger, John Travolta and Sylvester Stallone, as well as a slew of boxing and football stars including Mike Tyson, Conor McGregor and Paul Gascoigne.
