Corberan may make another Eisa move

PETERBOROUGH United are readying themselves for a flurry of offers for striker Mohamed Eisa, after revealing details of Huddersfield Town’s approach earlier this year.

The Posh have made it known they are willing to listen to offers for their record transfer, with Eisa free to leave the club this summer.

The well-travelled 26-year-old was brought to Peterborough from Bristol City in a £1.2m deal in June 2019 and was subject of interest from a number of clubs in the January transfer window, including the Terriers.

Posh director of football Barry Fry has revealed Town made an offer which included a swap deal with Reece Brown heading in the opposite direction.

While that move was rejected, the Terriers may return this summer with a cash bid for a player that will cost considerably less than the money Peterborough spent to land him two years ago.

“It’s difficult to know what money will be about this summer,” Fry said.

“The pandemic and no fans has stretched most clubs financially, but we will expect a fee.

“We turned down three bids for Mo last January.

“Huddersfield wanted to swap him for Reece Brown, but we turned that down.

“MK Dons also wanted him, but couldn’t raise the money and Charlton showed an interest, but they’ve changed manager since then.”

Huddersfield boss Carlos Corberan will oversee a significant squad overhaul this summer and while the budget will be limited, the opportunity to land a former target on a cut-priced deal may appeal to the Terriers.

DISPLACED Ben Hamer on merit midway through the season and played a crucial role in several games, most notably at home to Watford and Blackburn and away to QPR.

When he’s good you don’t worry about him, but his confidence seems to get knocked sometimes which leads to some bad streaks.

A good breakthrough season in the grander scheme but that has put him in a position where he needs to be held to the standards of a firstteamer now ......................................

ONE of the big pleasant surprises of the first half of the season as he came back from his season on loan at Derby and emerged as one of

VEERS from sturdy and reliable to serious liability. He’s got a better handle on that as the season has worn on but you still clench up when he has the ball on the edge of his own box. Stop us doing that and he gets a better mark next year ......

HAS done better than we expected and consequently ended up playing far more minutes than we expected. They need an upgrade next season but that’s not his fault .....................

WE have high hopes for the centreback and - Bournemouth aside - he was fabulous after breaking through as a regular starter in December but didn’t reach that same level after his January injury ..................................

BY his own admission not the ending he wanted to his Town career. Started the season in indifferent form, other than a brilliant performance at Swansea, and found himself behind Stearman in the pecking order for a while ............

HAD an eye-catching outing against Nottingham Forest as injuries struck early in the season and did well away to Watford in January, but not played since then. A capable back-up option ..............

BURST onto the scene straight away with a man-of-the-match performance against Norwich and maintained that form through to about Christmas, but has struggled in the second half of the season - even before his groin injury hit. Still a positive debut season in English football overall, and, hopefully, the summer break will do him some good ...................................

WHEN he’s been fully fit he’s rarely fallen below a 6/10 in any game and

AN absolute joy to watch when he’s on form, as at home to Swansea and away to Forest. He’s shown he can cut it at this level, but needs to find more consistency ............................

PERHAPS the harshest of the releases in the end-of-season retained list, but an understandable one nonetheless. All season he’s looked like he needs regular minutes somewhere; hopefully he’ll get them now .........................................

A YEAR to forget for the left-back as he was consistently left out, even when Toffolo was out injured and Brown was fit. Needs to put it behind him and make a fresh start after his release ................................

FINE but unspectacular for a few months after returning from a quad injury that cost him a proper pre-season and the first few games of the campaign. Has been far and away Town’s best player since the end of January - even better than he was in his player-of-the-season debut campaign last year. We’re balancing out a 6/10 for the first half
