Sun takes a shine to us
INDIAN SUMMER COULD BE ON ITS WAY, SAY WEATHER EXPERTS
YORKSHIRE and the rest of Britain could get a last blast of sunshine as part of a summer finale for September.
The forecast, made by formerBBC weatherman John Hammond, comes following a hugely underwhelming August plagued with rainfall and flooding.
But according to Hammond, of Weathertrending, Brits could soon see the rain replaced by some decent sunshine and temperatures reaching up to 25C.
He added that those kinds of temperatures could come as soon as Tuesday or Wednesday.
“Many of us can look forward to some fine weather, so don’t put away your garden furniture just yet.
“A late blast of summer sunshine is on the menu. It will be late summer at its best, with a sunnier finale to a dull August.
“The mid-20s is possible by midweek, with the fine weather holding on for the weekend and for a few more days into September for most.”
A spokesperson for the BBC said: “High pressure looks a bit more likely to stick around into the first week of September before gradually declining away.
“This means the first few days of autumn will tend to keep things largely dry across the UK with some warmth in western and northern areas.
“With high pressure to our northwest, a cooler easterly wind in the North Sea and southern half of the UK will keep the temperatures a little below average there.
“Towards the first weekend of September, there are some signals that low pressure may begin to push in as the high starts to weaken and shift north.
“However, confidence is a bit low on the exact timing, and this could hold off until the following week.”
According to the Met Office, Yorkshire is expected to continue to see grey spells and temperatures of around 18C for the majority of this week.
However, Saturday and Sunday could see highs of 20C and 21C respectively.
Bradford can expect something similar with highs ranging between 16C and 18C during the week and 20C on Sunday.
York looks set to follow in the same footsteps with highs of 21C on Sunday.
