Agar slams officials over sin-bins

-

LEEDS coach Richard Agar has questioned whether his team are being refereed unfairly after forward Matt Prior was sin-binned twice in yesterday’s 20-13 loss at Wakefield.

Prior was marched in the first half for a high tackle and then in the second after a melee with Trinity’s Chris Green.

Agar has described some officials as ‘trigger-happy’ with giving out yellow cards in recent the penalty and the visitors took full advantage as second rower Kane Linnett took Jez Litten’s short pass to crash over for his side’s second try.

Russell then took centre stage once more, producing a superb cut-out pass for centre Ricky Leutele to score the Claret and Gold’s third try and combining with him to get winger Sam Wood over for another.

Pryce kicked his third conversion to make it 22-8 before Hull KR forward Matt Storton’s ball steal on Nathaniel Peteru created the position for fullback Ben Crooks to get Minikin over for a try in the last act of the first half.

Crooks was unable to convert matches and plans to approach the Rugby Football League to voice his concerns.

“We get sin-bins every week, we’re very quick to get sin-bins,” he said. “Sin-bins on the back of touch judges who are 40 metres away giving reports. If we look at our sin-binnings this year, on an isolated and on their own merits, I’m just not really sure.

“I think Richie Myler got sin-binned against Salford for any of his side’s three tries as they trailed by 10 points at the break.

It was four tries apiece early in the second half after former England winger Ryan Hall plucked the ball out of the air following Lewis’ high kick to score his 14th try of the season but Rowen Milnes’ unsuccessful conversion attempt left Rovers still trailing by six points.

The Giants doubled their lead on 52 minutes when Pryce raced onto Russell’s kick over the defence to claim their fifth try and the former added the conversion.

Hull KR produced one last effort to stay in the game but Minikin put a foot in touch nothing. Zane (Tetevano) got sin-binned at Huddersfield for nothing.

“If they’re sin-bins, we’re going to have a lot of sin-bins.

“We know that we’re going to have to work to very, very high standards at the moment because we are very quick to give penalties away and sin-bins. That’s how it feels from our standpoint.

“We obviously need some before he dived over at the corner and hooker Matt Parcell was held up over the line as the home side scrambled to keep control of the game.

The Giants were more clinical and they pounced for another score when Crooks fumbled Russell’s grubber kick to gift a try to forward Joe Greenwood while former Hull KR forward Peteru proved unstoppable from 10 metres out as he charged over for their seventh try.

In a late rally by the visitors , Linnett forced his way over from close range for his second try and Parcell finished off a break by Litten for their sixth try, with Milnes adding both conversions. clarification because there’s a fair bit of moaning and groaning when it’s happening at the moment. But a lot of it rests with us.”

Jackson Hastings, Liam Marshall, Oliver Gildart and Brad Singleton scored a try apiece as Wigan ended their three-match losing streak to halt Super League play-off rivals Castleford’s four-game winning run with a 22-0 victory.
