Hefele hails impact of Town’s new star Thomas
MICHAEL Hefele commended the energy Sorba Thomas has brought to the Huddersfield Town side so far this season.
The 22-year-old was once again the Terriers’ stand-out player on Saturday as he was involved in three of the goals in the 4-0 win against Reading.
He assisted the first two for Lewis O’Brien and Matthew Pearson before getting one of his own after an exceptional run and finish.
Like everyone else who saw Saturday’s emphatic victory, former Town player Hefele was full of praise for Thomas, who has been one the most exciting players in the Championship this season.
When asked about his rise to becoming a first-team regular, the former Huddersfield centreback said: “It’s just impressive and he deserves it because he puts so much energy into the game. He shows that he wants to win and that’s the difference.
“If you have a player in the squad that makes the runs, they either receive the ball or they open up the gaps which is just fantastic.”
While Thomas deservedly earned most of the plaudits for the part he played in the
Terriers’ third consecutive league win, there plenty of other impressive performances around him. His partner on the other side of the pitch, Josh Koroma, got a brilliant assist for Danny Ward’s late goal.
Terriers’ injured striker Jordan Rhodes, who joined Hefele in giving his post-match thoughts, was keen to stress the impact of his team-mates, saying: “Great energy, from all the team as well. Great to see Josh Koroma get his assist there at the end and [Danny] Wardy getting on the scoresheet.
“Everyone will be talking about Sorba and his assists today but it was nice to see Josh [Koroma] get his assist as well.”
