AMANDA Owen has thanked fans for their support after Our Yorkshire Farm came second in the TV ratings.

The fraught episode, which showed the family battling treacherous conditions, garnered roughly two million viewers, meaning that it very nearly took the top spot for Tuesday night’s ratings. With catch-up added on, that number is expected to rise to about three million.

It was beaten to the spot by Silent Witness, but Amanda Owen has thanked fans for their support and for helping her show to reach the heady heights that it has.

Posting on Twitter, Amanda said: “A big thank you to all viewers who tuned in to #OurYorkshireFarm on @channel5_tv last night I hope that last nights episode, filmed in such difficult conditions captured the determination & strength required to keep going during the bleakest of times”.

Fans were “thrilled” at Tuesday’s episode, the first of the latest series, shot in a blizzard during lockdown by Amanda and the Owen clan themselves.

It was one of the ‘missing’ episodes from series four, much to the delight of fans who had been eagerly awaiting the episode.

Channel 5’s Daniel Pearl posted on Twitter: “Great return for @AmandaOwen8 #OurYorkshireFarm nearly 2m viewers and will grow to 3m. Only losing slot to the mighty Silent Witness.”

And fans were quick to respond with the parts of the episode that struck a chord with them.

One person said: “I felt so bad for Kate during the sheep hunt in deep snow. At one point she looked so forlorn. She loves to go, but I hope she gives the nod to the pups this next winter.”

Another said: “Don’t know how you do it, but glad you do, you are such lovely people, lovely family great programme love it”.
