FLORAL tributes have been placed at the scene after a man was found dead in the street.

The man, named locally as Saul Lee, was tragically found dead in Clarkson Street on Sunday and a cordon was put in place while officers from West Yorkshire Police conducted their enquiries. A spokesman said that emergency services were called to the residential street at about 6.10am Sunday to a report of a “sudden death”.

They said: “Police and ambulance services attended at the location and found the body of a man.

“Inquires are underway by Kirklees CID but the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.”

Floral tributes have since been placed at the scene, as friends and family pay tribute to Saul who has been described as “one of a kind”.

One loved one said: “Heartbreaking news! You was one of the good ones for sure! Rip Saul Lee you’ll forever be missed”.

A football shirt paying tribute to Saul has also been laid at the scene, and in a post, Overthorpe Sport Club FC in Dewsbury, where Saul is believed to have played football, paid tribute to the young player.

In a Facebook post, a spokesperson said: “RIP Saul Lee. Overthorpe Sports Club is shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic news of your passing. You were an absolute pleasure to manage and coach, such a massive character to the whole football club.

“We pass our condolences and love to the whole of Saul’s family and friends in this difficult time. As a tribute from Overthorpe Sports Club FC we will be retiring the number 9 shirt in honour to his name.

“From everyone at Overthorpe Sports Club we will miss you mate”.
