A ‘SUPER fan’ of the Tim Hortons restaurant chain queued for more than 12 hours outside the company’s new outlet in Birstall to secure a year’s supply of free drinks.

The Canadian restaurant brand opened at junction 27 retail park yesterday on the site of the former Pizza Hut.

Hundreds of customers began queuing for the grand opening at 7am, but one fan went one step further and spent the night in the car park after arriving at 6pm on Sunday.

It meant the customer was able to secure free drinks for the year – a prize worth £3,100 won by the first customer in the drive-thru and restaurant queue.

The first 100 customers to visit the restaurant were also given a free meal each.

Tim Hortons at Birstall Retail Park will now be open from 6am to midnight, seven days a week.

Kevin Hydes, chief commercial officer of Tim Hortons, said: “Leeds has always been a highly requested location by our fans.

“We are thrilled to have finally opened our doors and to be delivering our Canadian charm to the city morning, noon and night.

“We are lucky enough to have a number of ‘super fans’ within the community and customers have been queuing since last night for a chance to claim one of our famous giveaways.

“Our dedicated team have been training hard behind the scenes to ensure every customer has the quality experience we’re so well known for and we cannot wait to welcome each and every guest through the door.

“Our launch in Birstall Retail Park is just the start for us here in West Yorkshire and we encourage guests to keep their eyes peeled for more exciting news to come.”
