COVID-19 case rates are falling, latest figures show.

Calderdale had been experiencing some of the highest case rates in the region and the country but the borough’s rate has been falling for several weeks, and this week case rates in all Calderdale areas were below 400 per 100,000 people, though there were slight rises in some.

In the latest weekly period from October 31, 2021, to November 6, 2021, the number of cases in the borough fell by 186 on the previous reporting period to 648, according to Calderdale Council’s statistics.

This gives a case rate of 306.5 per 100,000 people, down 87.9 on the previous week.

Age ranges with the highest case rates per 100,000 were the 5-10s, 11-16s and 25-59s, while there were no age ranges showing an increasing number of cases per 100,000.

Between October 23 and October 29, 2021, there were five deaths (up three on the previous reporting period).

As of November 9, 2021, there were 72 acute hospital beds occupied, up three on the previous period, and four intensive cared beds occupied (no change).

Between November 1, 2021, and November 7, 2021, there were 4,536 PCR tests taken (down 596 on the previous equivalent period).

There were 9,690 lateral flow tests carried out in the same period (up 114 on the previous period).

Case rates vary in different parts of the borough with some areas showing improved figures and some facing rises, according to Government data.

The Government’s Middle Super Output Area statistics break areas down to around 7,000 people.

Health partners in Calderdale are working to keep rates at the lowest level possible and since relaxation of restrictions the five big things people can do to help remain in place – give others space, wear a face covering in high-risk places, get tested and self-isolate if notified to do so, mix outside or let air in and get both doses of the vaccine if you are eligible, and the booster when available.
