A KIND-HEARTED six-year-old girl has won plaudits from the boss of a food kitchen set up to help the hungry and homeless.

Emaan Ibrahim was on her way to school with her mum, Nusrat Siddique, when she saw a sign at the Breakfast Bar on Chapel Hill, Huddersfield, asking for help in providing the homeless with food and money.

She questioned her mum as to whether the bar gives free food to the homeless, and was really disheartened when she explained that you have to buy the meals.

It was then Emaan decided that she wanted to help the less fortunate.

So the pupil at Beaumont Primary Academy decided to start making bracelets, which she had long had an interest in collecting.

Her initial idea came from when she made a bracelet for her best friend, Naheeda, as a gift.

She began selling them to friends and family for £3 but has now progressed to an Instagram service.

On Sunday she presented more than £200 to Danny Burrows, who runs Huddersfield Street Kitchen at the back of Tesco in Huddersfield town centre.

She and her mum take freshlycooked curry and naan to the kitchen every Sunday lunchtime where it is eagerly devoured by many of the people who look forward to the food provided by Nusrat and many others.

Danny, 39, said: “Emaan is a lovely girl, so sweet and innocent and she and her mum are just amazing.

“It’s great to see the younger generation getting involved, we have had so much help and support from local schools including Salendine Nook and

Huddersfield Grammar School in particular.”

Nusrat, who lives at Blackmoorfoot Road, Crosland Moor, said: “I am very proud of her, she is really passionate about helping people who don’t have very much. She has a very soft side to her.” Anyone who would like to buy a bracelet should go to @made_by. emaan.
