We didn’t deserve to beat Swans, says Carlos

CARLOS Corberan admitted his side did not deserve to beat Swansea on Saturday.

Despite taking the lead through Danel Sinani, a 78th-minute strike from Flynn Downes secured a point for the visitors.

And the Terriers boss says his side didn’t deserve any more than that.

“I think the draw was a deserved point, but it is true we suffered more than we should have to get that point,” said Corberan.

“The maximum we deserved was a draw. To defend for 45 minutes is a long time to defend.

“It was like two games in one. We played well in the first half and had chances to score the second goal, but the second half was different. Sinani suffered an injury, and then we couldn’t attack.

“We couldn’t play with two wingers as a result and had to play with three midfielders.

“The team was more comfortable playing with two wingers.

“In the second half, we didn’t find the solutions in the middle of the pitch. We couldn’t break their press and find solutions to attack. They kept the ball really well.

“The first half was good. We knew we were playing against a team who will take risks.

“It was difficult to keep the tempo and aggression that we had in the first half. We were playing long and did not manage the game. We did not counterattack in the second half like we did in the first half.

“We need to reinforce the things that we are doing really well. When you stop doing that you change the dynamic of the game. Swansea are a hard team to recover the ball against.

“We had good moments and good positions that we didn’t use in the second half. We needed to do more things with the ball. When we didn’t do that, things were more difficult.”

EVEN with a much deeper and better squad this season, there is still no other player at Carlos Corberan’s disposal with quite the same skill set as Josh Koroma.

The 23-year-old was Huddersfield Town’s top scorer last season, despite spending more than half the campaign out injured, and almost seamlessly stepped into the void many fans feared would be left gaping after Karlan Grant’s bigmoney departure for West Brom.

This campaign, by his own admission, Koroma has struggled to live up to the standard he set for himself in that breakout year, despite Town being in better form overall.

But Corberan and fans alike were pleased with what they saw from him against Burnley in the FA Cup, with the winger scoring a far-post
