Eggs-cellent Easter ideas

Get active over the holidays and enjoy nature with exciting trails and activities at National Trust properties

- JANET TANSLEY Family Time Correspondent

IF you’re looking for things to do over the Easter holidays, then hop over to your nearest National Trust venue.

The Trust is inviting families to get together for a whole weekend of eggsciting activities, including its popular Easter nature adventure trails.

There are more than 180 trails to choose from across the UK, all asking everyone to get ready for fun and discovery as you’re challenged to spot the signs of spring, and experience nature bursting into life.

From creating wild art to waddling like a duckling, the trails have been designed to tickle the senses and immerse little ones – and big ones – in the natural world.

All you need to do is pick up a trail activity sheet when you arrive at your NT attraction and complete the 10 nature-inspired activities (eg. hopping like an Easter bunny or peeking into vegetable patches) and once you’ve completed the trail, you can reward yourself by collecting a lovely chocolate egg (made in the UK using cocoa responsibly sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms).

But that’s not all that’s on offer. Activities vary from place to place but you might even be able to take along your own decorated hard-boiled egg for an egg-rolling competition, or try your luck in a plastic duck race.

You can still join in the fun even if you can’t get to a National Trust venue, with downloadable Easter adventures in nature things to do at home, from making your own nature crown, to making some spring bunting, or going on a nature trail in your garden or local park with a guide to what you can find and look out for.
