Jones handed a challenge as he signs new Town contract KEY DATES
WINGER Pat Jones has been set a challenge of adding to his three appearances in Huddersfield Town’s first team after signing a new three-year contract at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The Wales under-21 international was handed one FA Cup start against Plymouth and two Championship substitute outings against Watford and Millwall for the Terriers in January 2021 at the age of 17.
Having just turned 19 this month, he has not featured in
Carlos Corberan’s side since, but did train with the first team when the Terriers were preparing for last month’s Championship playoffs.
Now head of football operations Leigh Bromby now wants him ‘to hit the ground running in preseason,’ saying: “It’s great news Pat has committed his future to the club for the long term, as he is a player with great ability and high potential.
“He’s only 19 and will certainly improve, but Pat’s direct style of play is already one that fans will enjoy watching.
“He’s an intelligent lad and combines that with some top-quality athleticism.
“He’s already had a taste of Championship football, and now his challenge is to force his way into Carlos’ squad more permanently.
“He’s trained extensively with the first team, most recently during the period surrounding the play-offs,
