‘It’s simply one of Yorkshire’s finest’

VISITORS PRAISE BEAUMONT PARK... BUT SAY TOILETS ARE NEEDED

HUDDERSFIELD’S Beaumont Park has been singled out for praise for its new-look play facilities, picturesque fountain, bandstand, its woodland setting and general tidy and well-kept appearance. Visitors also love the nature trails and the various quirky carvings in stone and wood.

Dean Walsh, from Crosland Moor, Huddersfield, has been to a lot of parks around Yorkshire but Beaumont Park is by far his favourite. He says it’s also handily close to where he lives.

“It has a brilliant playground; better than Greenhead Park (Huddersfield). You can see brass bands in the bandstand and there are views across the valley to Castle Hill and out towards Holmfirth. It’s one of the best parks in Yorkshire.

“It’s nice in winter and summer. If you visit on the morning you can sometimes see all the fog in the valley. It is really picturesque.”

lack of toilet facilities. The park does have toilets, situated near to one of the main entrances, but they are not always open.

Evangelina says their last visit to Beaumont Park was a bit of a ‘disaster’ as her daughter needed a wee and had to go behind a bush, but ended up falling over, adding: “It wouldn’t have happened if there had been a toilet open”.

Ronique Collins, 30, was rollerskating in Beaumont

Park with her niece on Friday.

Ronique, formerly from Crosland Moor but now living in Brighouse, said Beaumont Park is a lovely place to visit and all the better for a recent revamp.

“I came here about six weeks ago with my daughter. This is my favourite park in Huddersfield. It is better than Greenhead Park. I like the bandstand.”

TripAdvisor reviewers have also raved about Beaumont Park.

One family from Huddersfield said it was the “best park in the UK.”

Their review from May this year said: “Wow. The park has been renovated and the playground is fabulous. We love Beaumont Park and anyone that hasn’t been, it is worth the visit.

“I know people keep mentioning toilets...there is some and I am sure they are working towards opening these but people must understand the restrictions that have been in place for Covid. Not ideal but this park is amazing...well done for keeping it beautiful.”
