HUDDERSFIELD Town are said to have entered the race for the loan signing of Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

The 19-year-old is wanted by a host of Championship clubs with Blackpool, Cardiff City and Sheffield United also said to be interested.

Branthwaite featured just eight times for Frank Lampard’s Premier League side last season and was sent off against Brentford as the Toffees survived relegation.

The teenager is also said to be attracting attention from European sides too, with Dutch club PSV Eindhoven and Germany’s Schalke also reported to have shown a keen interest in the centre-back.

Having represented England at both Under-19 and Under-20 level, there is a clear pathway to success for the teenager, with many of the Three Lions’ current youth stars historically enjoying strong spells in the Football League.

Levi Colwill, for one, enjoyed a superb spell at the John Smith’s Stadium last season, with Chelsea still to decide on the next steps for a player who has also now represented his country at England Under-21 level.

Town have been linked with another Premier League star earlier in the month in Manchester City’s James McAtee, as manager Carlos Corberan seeks to find the correct balance heading into the new campaign in a bid to improve on last season’s third-place finish in the Championship.

YAYA Sanogo claims to have received three offers from Scotland as he prepares to make a long-awaited return to football.

The 29-year-old has revealed he has had a difficult year following his exit from Huddersfield Town.

Last year, the Terriers took a punt on the former Arsenal man to save their season as the club hurtled towards League One. However, after just nine appearances and no goals, the striker was not offered a new contract.

Twelve months on, Carlos Corberan’s side remain the last team the Frenchman represented after spending one year in the free-agent wilderness. Struggling to score in the Championship is a far cry from what was expected from Sanogo when he arrived in England.

Arsene Wenger brought the then youngster to north London after he bagged four goals as France won the Under-20 World Cup for the first time.

Like many prospects before him, however, he failed to realise his potential in the senior ranks.

Sanogo - who has been training with former club Toulouse - revealed he is desperate to find a club amid reported interest from Scotland.

“The worst moment is Saturday and you can’t play,” he said. “You can’t be competitive, that’s the hard bit.

“There’s frustration. The pressure and the adrenaline of the weekend - I miss it, I miss the pitch.

“I train there (Toulouse) during the week.

“The weekly plan is the same as having a club, I’m there every morning and there are two sessions a day - but I don’t play on the matchday.

“There’s no income either. It’s hard
