Italian restaurant is forced to close amid rising costs

STRUGGLE FOR VENUE WHERE ALL MEALS COST LESS THAN £8

- By SEBASTIAN McCORMICK

AN Italian restaurant in Huddersfield has announced it has closed due to the rising costs of supplies and utilities.

Pa-Pi Pasta & Pinsa, located on King Street, have announced they have closed their doors to the public as they have struggled to keep up with bills.

The restaurant was opened last year by owner Davide Garbarino and all of the food on its menu cost less than £8.

However, with the cost-of-living crisis continuing, many businesses have had to close, and PaPi’s is no different.

In a statement posted on social media, the restaurant said they had become a “victim of the times” but thanked all of its customers.

It read: “Unfortunately, due to circumstances out of our control, Pa-Pi pasta and pinsa has had to close the doors.

“As a small family business, this saddens us deeply. We have created some great friendships from the people we have met during our new venture, but as we keep being informed 80% of all hospitality companies fail.

“We have become a victim of the times and we cannot make it out of the dark hole we are in.

“The final nail in the coffin (so to speak) was the increase in utility bills, food supplies etc.

“I want to personally thank each and every person that has stepped through our doors, for food and drink, parties and meetings, bringing our goods or returning with family and friends, without you we wouldn’t have survived as long as we did. “All we can hope is that we helped our customers, families and friends create some great memories.

“You have got to admit the crazy Italian is surely hard to forget.”
