FRIENDS are rallying around to help pay for the funeral of a man stabbed to death in Huddersfield and to help his daughter.

Steven Harnett, 25, died alongside his partner Katie Higton, 27, at a house in Harpe Inge, Dalton, earlier this month.

Steven was the dad of a young daughter and was described as having a ‘heart of gold.’

A family friend, Kyle Dolan, has now set up an online fund to help Steven’s daughter, as well as help pay for Steven’s funeral.

The GoFundMe page has raised more than £2,000. The fundraising target has been set at £4,000 and more than 50 people have contributed to the fund as the Examiner went to press. To donate, visit https://gofund.me/801f12c8

Kyle said: “I’m raising money in support of one of my friends, Janine.

“Janine has had the worst possible news a parent could ever receive. Someone has tragically taken her son’s life on May 15, leaving her granddaughter fatherless.

“Steven went on a date and horrifically they both didn’t get to see the next day. As you can imagine, Janine currently has the weight of the world on her shoulders and coming to terms with this.

“Therefore her beautiful friend Kathy has asked me to arrange this to help Janine with the costs of the funeral and for Stevens’s daughter.

“Any donation small or large will truly be appreciated and you will be helping a family deal with the worst times of their lives.”

Marcus Osbourne, 34, of Harpe Inge, Dalton, appeared in court last week charged with murdering Steven and Katie. He is due to go on trial later this year.
