We want rovers to return to our new bar

THE owners of a new bar are going out of their way to make it as friendly as possible – for dogs as well as people.

Chris Ashley and Jacqui Baker opened The Sip in Honley a week ago and say they have been given a ‘fantastic’ level of support from local residents.

The new premises, in Concorde Street, aims to be family-friendly as well as dog-friendly, with muddy paws not a problem.

The bar is serving breakfasts as well as lunches and dinners, with a range of drinks, from cask beer to coffee. There will be a range of guest beers as well as an everchanging menu provided by different vendors.

Chef Nathan Anerville is in charge of the breakfast menu. The venue has enough room to seat 80 people.

Chris said: “The support from the local community has been fantastic. The opening weekend was amazing.”

Jacqui added: “Everyone has been amazing. People were saying they were happy to see us open and it’s just what Honley needed.”

The aim is for the bar to be a ‘coffee shop’ as well as a place to grab a beer and something to eat, including takeaway food.

The venue is over two floors and is set to include a ‘vinyl room’ where customers can put on their own records. Board games will also be available so that families can enjoy the space.

The couple, who live locally, say they want The Sip to be at the heart of the community and to be welcoming to all.

Chris says The Sip has great views and already people have said the venue is a great spot to watch the world go by.

Customers have already been impressed by the size of the venue as well as the views from the windows which overlook Honley village.

One reviewer wrote: “This place looks amazing and the prices are very competitive. Everyone should give it a try, you will be surprised. Second floor has an amazing view.”

The Sip is open six days a week (closed Monday).
