THE HUDDERSFIELD Town Foundation has announced its first-ever charity golf day which aims to raise vital funds for the Foundation’s Breakfast Clubs programme, which offers healthy breakfasts to children in need across Kirklees.

Golf lovers and supporters are invited to join Town legend Keith Hanvey for a day of friendly rivalry on Thursday 11 July 2024 at Crosland Heath Golf Club.

Teams of four can sign up for just £350, which includes a sandwich, tea or coffee on arrival, a two-course meal and sponsorship of a hole for your business or team.

Since their launch, the Breakfast Clubs have served over 2.5 million meals, giving children affected by poverty a nutritious start to their school day.

The annual cost of running these clubs exceeds £140,000, making events like the charity golf day essential for maintaining these efforts. By buying a team ticket, competitors would provide 70 children with breakfast for one month.

The day begins with registration, practice and refreshments at 11am, followed by a shotgunstyle tee-off at 12.30pm.

Throughout the event, participants can take part in entertaining games and challenges before concluding with an evening meal and award presentations starting at 5pm.

The event promises not only a

“With a quarter of 3-10 year-olds in Kirklees living in relative poverty, initiatives like our Breakfast Clubs are more vital than ever,” says Siobhan Atkinson, chief executive of Huddersfield Town Foundation.

“By participating in our charity golf day, you’re not only enjoying a day of sport and camaraderie but also directly supporting the wellbeing and education of children in our community.” In addition to the golf tournament, sponsorship opportunities are available, including headline sponsorship for £2,000 which would feed 400 children breakfast for a month and supporting packages starting from £550. Sponsors gain visibility and recognition while contributing to a worthy cause.
