A MAN hit a dog so hard the slap was heard by a horrified woman across a busy main road.

The woman was walking along National Avenue, west Hull, when she claims she saw the man hit the brown Labrador dog so hard she heard the slap from across the road.

The woman, who does not want to be named, was with her young daughter at the time of the incident, at around 8am on Saturday morning.

She said she was appalled by the man’s actions and shared her experience on Facebook in a bid for people to be aware of what had happened.

She said: “Just seen a guy absolutely hit his dog so hard outside the National pub I heard it from across a main road.

“My daughter saw it as did a guy in a van. I watched him walk on to Bricknell Avenue from County Road North. I would have followed him, but my little girl was upset.

“The dog was cowering and didn’t even cry as he was hit like that, which leads me to think this is common for the poor thing. The dog is a brown Labrador, with a red lead.

“The man was possibly in his 40s, shaved head, green bomber jacket and jeans.”

The woman said she didn’t have her mobile phone on her at the time, otherwise she would have taken pictures.

“I can’t stop thinking about the poor dog. The guy whacked it and the dog just took it, it was so sad,” she said.

She has also encouraged anyone who sees the man to call the RSPCA on 0300 1234999.
