Investigation launched as woman’s body found
HULL: A cemetery was completely blocked off by police yesterday morning after a woman’s body was found in the grounds.
Humberside Police were called to Western Cemetery at 9.30am following reports of a body in the graveyard.
The woman is thought to be in her fifties and her death is currently being treated as unexplained.
In a statement, a police spokesman said: “The body of a woman thought to be in her fifties has been found in a cemetery in Hull.
“Investigations are in their very early stages and we are currently treating her death as unexplained.”
Lee Coles, 47, and Jean Coles, 70, mother and son, live behind the cemetery in Dundee Street.
Lee said: “It is a shock. It is a quiet area and we don’t really get anything like this happening around here.”
