‘Stop being absolute pigs’, says furious gran as litter plagues alley near her home

WOMAN FED-UP, BUT COUNCIL SAYS NO REPORT RECEIVED

-

A DISGRUNTLED great-grandmother has demanded people “stop being absolute pigs” after a spate of fly-tipping near her home.

Susan Oxendale, 65, says she is fed up of the mounting rubbish and litter being dumped down an alleyway behind Paisley Primary School.

She has lived in Beckhole Close, west Hull, for 20 years and says the problem with a build-up of dumped cans and smashed glass in the street became worse after Christmas.

Ms Oxendale says she has told Hull City Council twice about the “horrible rubbish” more than five weeks ago, but the authority says it has not received anything to alert it to the mess.

“I don’t care if people at the council are sick of me complaining, people shouldn’t create these eyesores on my doorstep,” said the great-grandmother-of-seven.

“I know a lot of other residents complain, but I think residents now may have given up about people being absolute pigs.”

The pensioner says she has even spotted a two-seater sofa and a grand piano dumped down the alleyway, which links Beckhole Close and Paisley Street.

Ms Oxendale, who had a knee replacement last year, says she walks the route almost every day and is now “sick to the back teeth of it”.

Three years ago, she claims she was even stabbed with a dirty needle when her six-year-old grandson was “playing musketeers” with a pair of syringes and she had to spend an afternoon in Hull Royal Infirmary. Describing the scene, Ms Oxendale said: “It’s just a dumping ground for people, but this latest lot is just getting added to.

“It’s the back of the garden and the fence has been broken and people are throwing it into the garden.

“One thing I can’t stand is litter in the streets. I do report it because I hate it, but this little lot is a lot worse.

“There’s a lot of people who drink and just throw the cans and bottles down, smashing them. There are even needles down there.”

Hull City Council said: “We have no record of being contacted by the resident. We encourage all residents to report fly-tipping directly to us.”
