Man’s appeal after bike crash leaves him jobless

INJURED CYCLIST SAYS HIS BIKE WAS TAKEN FROM SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT

-

Kelvin Guveya is desperate to be reunited with his bike A CYCLIST who was left with a bleed on the brain after a horror crash says he has become jobless after his bike was taken from the scene of the accident.

Kelvin Guveya ended up “rolling over” the bonnet of a car following a nasty collision in Laburnum Avenue in east Hull at around 7am on February 22.

He said: “I was on my bike and this guy hit me. I looked out to see if there was any oncoming traffic but I didn’t see him. He came out from nowhere, he hit my bike and I ended up rolling over the car before landing badly on my ankle.

“An ambulance had to be called and the driver stayed with me, along with this woman who said she was a nurse. She helped me and was talking to me and advising me until the ambulance arrived.”

He was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary with damage to his head and ankle before being discharged three days later.

Ever since the collision, Mr Guveya, who is a student at the University of Hull, has been trying to piece together the events following the crash in a desperate bid to be reunited with his precious racing bike.

According to the 20-year-old, his £350 Claud Butler racing bike was taken by the woman who helped him at the scene and who sat with him and identified herself as a nurse.

However, Mr Guveya is yet to be reunited with his bike with the lack of transport affecting his employment and studying.

“I am hoping she took my bike because she said she would look after it,” Mr Guveya said. “She said she would pass on her details to ambulance staff, but I never got those details.

“I got fired because I couldn’t get to work as I used my bike to travel and even to look for a job I would need my bike.

“I can’t go to university either and it’s just painful because I didn’t ask for any of this. It has been a really difficult time for me. I’m desperate to get my bike back - I would do anything to get it.

“I just want to know why this woman hasn’t looked for me.

“She has made it hard for me but someone knows where my bike is. I don’t have a licence so I can’t drive and I am out of a job.”
