BEST OF THE REST
THE BAY ITV, 9pm
THIS gripping drama got off to a cracking start last week, with nearly five million viewers tuning in to see if it lives up to the ‘new Broadchurch’ hype.
There’s certainly already plenty of intrigue, as Morecambe Bay police investigate the disappearance of local twins Holly and Dylan.
DS Lisa Armstrong (Morven Christie) is now working on a murder enquiry, after the discovery of a body on the beach, and has arrested the twins’ stepdad Sean (Jonas Armstrong). A suspect interview which is likely to get really awkward, given that Sean and Lisa were at it in an alleyway at the time of the disappearance.
The single mum could have even bigger problems too, as her daughter Abbie – who’s been suspended from school – has befriended a random handsome builder, and son Rob is involved in a risky online game.
Plenty of threads, possibilities, suspects and a really great cast means we’re hooked already.
GLOW UP BBC1, 10.35pm/ BBC Wales 11.05pm
AS Britain’s Next Top Make Up Artist continues, with Stacey Dooley in the Tyra Banks’ role, the seven remaining contestants find themselves facing a red carpet challenge.
This week’s guest judge is Caroline Barnes, who’s been in the business for 25 years and regularly makes up the likes of Kylie, Cheryl and Emma Watson.
She’s supervising as each of the MUAS is given their own celeb to get red carpet-ready, in just a 45-minute window. Which, apparently, is a really short amount of time.
It’s fair to say the calibre of famous faces waiting to be painted isn’t exactly A list, but then again they’re attending the TV Choice Awards and not the Oscars. After they’ve worked their magic on the likes of Gemma Atkinson, Chizzy Akudolu and Anne Hegerty, followed by a monochrome challenge, the MUAS find out which two will take part in the Face Off elimination.
