Nothing to fear except fear itself... oh, and 'limescale' disease
TWO visits to the I’m A Celeb jungle weren’t enough for Katie Price – she’s now braving the show that makes Bush Tucker trials look like a trip to a tea rooms. If you haven’t seen it before, this series asks a group of unprepared celebrities to put themselves through a condensed SAS selection process where the instructors show no mercy.
The first challenge, in the Scottish Hebrides, sees them being dragged out of a car with bags over their heads and then free-falling over a cliff edge. Katie immediately panics. “The worst thing that’s going to happen is that your false eyelashes will come off” barks an unsympathetic Ant Middleton, the show’s hard-guy hero.
Katie is joined by fellow reality regular Joey Essex, who is once again trying to prove he’s smarter than anyone gives him credit for – while also fretting about catching ‘limescale disease’ and wondering if his body will be in a fit state for a naked photo shoot once it’s all over.
The experience only lasts eight days, but it feels like an eternity for celebs like Anthea Turner, former Strictly pro Brendan Cole, ex-footballer John Fashanu and Paralympian Lauren Steadman, who face the humiliation of poor living conditions, spot kit checks and punishments like lying down fully clothed in a freezing cold river.
And they’re referred to by numbers, not names. Training sessions include being punched by eight people and showing the discipline not to fight back, which proves a step too far for boxer Tony
Bellew.
