Hunt for man with flowers after raids on Old Town bars

-

POLICE investigating a spate of break-ins at businesses in Hull’s Old Town say they are hunting a man who was spotted nearby carrying “a bunch of red flowers”.

The suspect is one of two men wanted by Humberside Police after witnesses reported “suspicious activity” around Telstar 2, in Bowlalley Lane, pictured, and Craft Cocktails & Kitchen, in Lowgate.

Officers, some handling police dogs, rushed to the scene on Thursday afternoon amid reports of multiple break-ins at venues that were closed due to the coronavirus lockdown.

A police 4x4 was pictured parked on a curb outside one bar while another business had its windows smashed through and boarded up.

Police say they received a call prompting them to investigate at around 4.40pm on Thursday. However, they later discovered that nothing had been taken.

Despite this, they are still hunting the two suspects - one of which stood out.

In a statement, a spokesman for Humberside Police said: “An investigation has been launched following reports of break-ins at two Hull bars on Thursday, April 16.

“We were called following reports of suspicious activity at a bar in Bowlalley Lane at around 4.40pm.

“When officers arrived in the area it was discovered there had also been a break-in at a premises in nearby Lowgate.

“It is not believed anything was taken from either building.

“The first suspect was bald, wore a black Jack Daniel’s T-shirt, blue shorts, black shoes and carried a bunch of red flowers. The second also wore a black T-shirt, beige shorts and was described as skinny, with facial hair.
