Boxer Luke hopes new city gym will prove a knockout

HULL will soon be welcoming a unique gym that will be the first of its kind for the city.
Olympic gold medal-winner Luke Campbell wants to give back to the people of Hull by opening a facility that caters for both physical and mental health.
Working with Hull City Council, the boxing star will bring the former Farm Foods store in Prospect Street back to life in spectacular style.
(Coolhand) Fit 24 Hull aims to be the city’s premium 24-hour training facility.
The Hull sportsman, 32, who won gold at London 2012, is meeting the costs of the huge investment through his charitable foundation called It’s Everyone’s Fight, alongside other charities and grants.
He said: “Through the gym, I want to show the people of Hull how passionate I am about the city and want it to be a place where everyone can come together through sport.
“As a boxer fighting at an elite level, travelling the world, I have been tested mentally and now want to open the gym as a way to build up my brand and set up a future after boxing.
“The gym is not going to be just your average gym as I will be adding my own touches and it will be different to any other gym in the city.
“There will be a real focus on mental health as well as physical fitness, through healthy competitions, and we will also use the café there as a place to talk every week as everyone goes through problems.

Set to open from January as a members-only centre, with prices from £24 a month, the club will offer a full professional p environment for serious trainers as well as a fully equipped facility for the casual user.
The 11,000sq ft facility will include a state-of-the-art large free-weight area with a full strength set included.
It will also have plate-loaded resistance r machines and a full cardio c set up with more than 40 machines. m
There will be a centre-piece f functional boxing area with full ring, bags, strength area and specialised equipment for the sport and classes designed d by Luke Campbell.
Nutritional meals, shakes and smoothies s will be available to members and the public in a sit-down food bar. There will also be on site supplements s available.
