POLICE and coastguard teams are continuing to look for a missing pensioner as the search reaches day four.

Goole man Robert Bracegirdle was last seen at 9am on Sunday after he left his home to take his dog for a walk.

There has been no sign of Mr Bracegirdle, better known to locals as Bob, since but his dog has been located near to the Ferry Boat Inn in Howden.

Humberside Police and Humber Coastguard teams have been searching for him around the River Ouse, with the helicopter circulating overhead.

Chief Inspector Jamie Watson, who is the lead for Operations in the East Riding, confirmed searches continued for him yesterday.

He said: “We are continuing our search to locate missing Goole man Robert Bracegirdle.

“The public will see our teams working with our partner agencies in the local area as we continue our extensive searches to find Robert.

“We are still keen to hear from any member of the public who may have seen Mr Bracegirdle since he went missing earlier this week.”

On Tuesday, Stevie Snead, the landlady at The Peacock in Goole, spoke to the Mail and described Mr Bracegirdle, 75, as a “friendly guy”.

Expressing her concerns for his welfare, she said: “He was a regular in the pub before lockdown, he lives on his own now.

“I opened the pub on

October 1 and he’s been in twice since then. You could see his mental capacity had deteriorated. He would try to light cigarettes in the pub and once left his shopping behind.

“He would never have done those things before lockdown, they were out of character for him. I think lockdown has massively affected him.”

“He was a friendly guy, everybody talked to him and he knew everybody.”

Mr Bracegirdle is described as around 5ft 9in and of slim build.

He has grey hair that is parted from the left, with glasses and is known to wear a dark anorak, shirt and a jumper with jeans. He walks unaided “but can appear shaky”.

If you have seen Mr Bracegirdle or have information on his whereabouts, you should call Humberside Police on 101, quoting log number 298 of October 25.
