Five Covid-19 deaths across local hospitals

ANOTHER 159 new coronaviru­s cases have been confirmed in Hull and the East Riding in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, five more deaths have also been reported at the region’s hospitals. They were announced in data released yesterday, but two of the deaths occurred on Saturday,

November 28, and three occurred on Sunday, November 29

While latest figures from the Government have revealed there have now been a total of 20,158 cases of Covid-19 in Hull and the East Riding as of yesterday.

The East Riding saw 81 positive tests in the past 24 hours, bringing the total in the area to 9,786 – increasing from 9,705 on Sunday.

The infection rate has also seen a rise from 2,844.6 per 100,000 of the population to 2,868.3.

In Hull, there are now 10,372 cases of coronaviru­s in the city after an increase of 78 new cases in the past 24 hours.

The infection rate in the city has now jumped to 3,992.6 from 3,962.6 the previous day.

And according the latest figures released by NHS England yesterday, 346 people in total have lost their lives to Covid-19 between Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital, an increase of five from data released the previous day.

Nationally, the Government said on that there had been a further 12,330 cases of coronaviru­s in the UK.

It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 1,629,657.

The Government also said a further 205 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19, as of yesterday. This brings the UK total to 58,448.

While the number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificat­e stands at 66,713 in the UK.
