HEDON Neighbourhood Watch is outraged by the treatment of the town’s facilities by youths in the area.

The group were walking through Hedon Skate Park recently and left in fury at the “lack of respect” for the area.

Alcohol bottles and junk food packets were left in the park despite accessible bins, and the group wants young people to “take responsibility” and respect the town.

Entering the park was met by foul language and a ten-minute rubbish collection.

Neighbourhood Watch said: “When I went to on both Saturday and

Sunday last week, there was litter everywhere. Empty cans of Pepsi, Monster, cans of Stella Artois, crisp packets, Mentos packets, and more.

“It took me ten minutes to clear the rubbish up. But why was it my responsibility? Why was it there in the first place?

“There was a group of young people there, and their language was spattered with “F” words, and the presence of a child did not appear to curb their language.

“It struck me at the time that it was sad that this was the only place that local kids could really hang out in the area together.

“These youngsters need to learn some social responsibility and respect, but they need encouragement at the same time.”

reached out to local authorities in a bid to get CCTV in the park, but believe it would be denied due to the costly expense.

They added: “What price is public safety though?

“We want to encourage community spirit, wellbeing of residents, looking out for each other, and creating a communication bridge between communities and the services available to help.”
