Unsung heroes who have captured our hearts during the Covid-19 pandemic
THE HEART OF EAST YORKSHIRE 2021 FINALISTS REVEALED INSPIRING YOUNGSTER OF THE YEAR
WE can now reveal the names of the “ordinary” heroes who have been nothing less than extraordinary over the past unprecedented year.
The Heart of East Yorkshire Awards 2021 has had an overwhelming response, with heart-warming stories of courage, neighbourliness, acts of kindness - and of communities and businesses coming together.
Judges had the unenviable task of whittling down the many worthy entrants into the stellar shortlist over ten categories, including Friend/neighbour of the Year, Business in the Community Award, Courageous Child of the Year and Inspiring Youngster of the Year.
The Heart of East Yorkshire Award, sponsored by Trident, will be selected from category winners.
“This year has seen some incredible achievements in what has been a challenging year. It has seen communities joined together in ways we have never seen before,” said headline sponsor, Trident.
“To be a part of this event that recognises the amazing people of the community that we live and work in is a privilege.”
The shortlist will now go to an independent panel, who will select the eventual winners of each category.
Naturally, the awards ceremony,
on April 27, will this year look a little different. It will be hosted on our new virtual events platform, The Awards Room, which gives attendees and sponsors the chance to experience real time networking while celebrating the successes of this year’s finalists.
But, as with other years, it is the finalists’ stories that will shine through. In 2019, inspiring tales of commitment and courage included Hull boxing legend, Tommy Coyle. He was recognised for the outstanding work his organisation the Tommy Coyle Foundation, does for the community by winning the Heart of East Yorkshire Awards.
