Sao back to face Trinity, Reynolds makes progress

-

BRETT Hodgson expects to be able to welcome Ligi Sao back into his Hull FC side this week to face Wakefield Trinity.

The forward has missed the Black and

Whites’ last two games after picking up an ankle issue in the win against Salford Red

Devils over Easter.

However, Sao has trained this week and Hodgson expects him to come back into his 17-man squad for Friday’s clash.

“Ligi will be back, he had a great session yesterday,” the head coach confirmed. “He’s fit to go, a couple of days late from last week, but he’s had a good progression to get back to full fitness.”

Hodgson will be without Jack Brown, who will serve a one-game suspension for a late tackle in the draw against Warrington Wolves.

He expects the young forward to be the only man to have played in Sunday’s game to miss this week’s contest, though.

“No, only Jack Brown because of a suspension that he’ll serve,” the head coach said when asked whether there were any new concerns to emerge from last weekend’s marathon clash.

“We’ve taken the early plea on that one so he’ll miss one week for what happened in that game but everyone else seemed to have got through the game pretty well.”

Josh Reynolds is another to have missed the last two games as he recovers from a hamstring injury and while he still has another few weeks to go, Hodgson is feeling upbeat about his issue.

“He’s progressing very well,” he added. “He’s back running at the moment so we’ll get the workload into him over the next couple of weeks and see how he goes.

“These things depend on how he pulls up from how we push him the week. He did some good tempo runs and he looked good and feels good after it. We’ll see how he turns in today. If he’s got no lingering effects then we can push him further.

“Our physios and high performance are a very solid team and they’re working very hard to make sure that Josh and Manu Ma’u come back fit and well.”
